Community Volunteer Service by Aye Naing
Helping Mr. Donald Gates
Mr. Gates is my 12th grade (senior year in High School) teacher for the class known as Participation in Government (PIG). He is the one who introduced this “Community Volunteer Service” project to me. He told me and my class that if we did not complete this assignment, then we will not get the class credit (and we NEED the credit in order to graduate from High School). I started my working hours on 12/3/2015. Most of my hours were usually during the school time. Like, during lunch. But, I also used a good chunk of my hours after school. The latest I would stay after school would be 3:00pm. Fortunately, Mr. Gates already had some things for me to do. On the first day, I started at 2:30pm and ended at 3:00pm (after school). Mr. Gates assigned me to carry some books from another class (which was downstairs) to his class (which is upstairs). After that, I organized his room by rearranging posters here and there around his room. I did all of that for 30 minutes, and then that was it for that day. The next day was 12/4/2015. This time, I started at 12:09pm and ended at 12:42pm (during lunch). I basically continued organizing Mr. Gates’ room with all the rearranging of the posters for 33 minutes. Then at 2:29pm-3:00pm, Mr. Gates assigned me to cut out some new posters to hang on his wall in a column they belong in. I did that for 31 minutes and it was it for that day. The next day for me to work was 12/7/2016. I started at 12:06pm-12:36pm.
